A Day at Sea: Poached Eggs, Waterfalls, and 1980s Nostalgia
Ahoy there, fellow adventurers! Gather round as I regale you with tales of a day aboard the good ship a Sky Princess, where breakfast is a formal affair, waterfalls steal the show, and nostalgia reigns supreme.
Rise and Shine: Breakfast Fit for Seafaring Royalty
The day began promptly at 08:00, as the ship’s bell chimed and we all stumbled bleary-eyed to the dining hall for 09:00. But fear not, for what awaited us was a breakfast of champions! Poached eggs, succulent salmon, fluffy omelettes, and stacks of pancakes disappeared quicker than you can say “anchors aweigh.” A feast fit for a crew of four, setting the tone for the adventures that lay ahead.
Strolling the Decks: A Brisk Walk and Overcast Skies
With our bellies full and spirits high, Dawn and I took to the decks for a morning constitutional. Deck 18 became our domain as we strolled a leisurely 1.5 miles, braving the brisk wind and overcast skies like true seafaring souls. Warren and Michele, meanwhile, charted their own course, no doubt weaving their own tales of adventure.
Waterfalls and Wonder: A Commodore’s Spectacular Spin
By midday, our sea legs led us to the Bray’s cabin, where plans were made to witness a sight to behold: the Furebergsfossen waterfall. As if by magic, the commodore spun the ship in a daring 180-degree manoeuvre, offering us all a panoramic view of nature’s grandeur. A moment to remember, captured in the spray of cascading water and the gasps of awe from all aboard.
Culinary Adventures: International Buffets and Pizza Pleasures
Lunchtime beckoned, and we answered the call with gusto. The World Fresh Marketplace buffet proved to be a culinary odyssey, with flavours from every corner of the globe tantalising our taste buds. From spicy curries to comforting Sunday roasts (a personal favourite, especially after last night’s lacklustre fare), and succulent chicken wraps that disappeared as quickly as they appeared.
Moments of Solitude: Scenic Views and Nostalgic Tunes
As the afternoon waned, each of us found our own slice of serenity. For me, it was the Take Five bar, where I sipped a whiskey, bourbon and prosecco cocktail, listening to the soulful crooning of Amy Winehouse, and let my gaze wander across the endless expanse of Norwegian charming coastline. A moment of quiet reflection amidst the hustle and bustle of ship life.
Silver Screen Delights: Wonka, Wind, and Warm Memories
As the afternoon panned out evening, the call of cinema beckoned. Michele and I braved the elements to watch “Wonka” on the pool deck’s large screen, the chilly wind forgotten in the warmth of nostalgia reborn in a new take on an old classic. A testament to the enduring magic of childhood favourites, shared under the stars and sea breeze.
Nighttime Escapades: Pizza, Ballads, and 80s Flashbacks
With hunger gnawing at our bellies once more, we made a beeline for Alfredo’s Pizzaria, indulging in slices of cheesy perfection before the evening’s entertainment unfolded. Sadly the pizza was slow to arrive but available in taste. Ballads from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Shirley Bassey, and Adele filled the air, setting the stage for a journey back in time to the neon-soaked glory days of the 1980s. Deck 6 became our stage, as we sang along to hits from a bygone era, the laughter and camaraderie echoing long into the night.
Tomorrow’s Promise: Aalesund Awaits
As the day drew to a close, we retired to our cabins with hearts full and memories aplenty. Another day at sea, another chapter in our seafaring saga. But tomorrow promises new shores to explore, new adventures to be had. Aalesund beckons, and with it, the promise of untold wonders and memories yet to be made.
