The 1998-99 season saw the greatest achievement in the history of football where Manchester United won the TREBLE (domestic league title, domestic FA Cup & the European Cup/Champions League Final which had never been done before. But it was also noteworthy for a David v Goliath victory in which a small group of supporter-shareholders helped knock back MUFC’s takeover by Rupert Murdoch and BSkyB.
