NYC, Washington DC, Nashville and Greensboro North Carolina – Day Eighteen

Greetings, dear readers!

It’s your intrepid correspondent here, reporting from the wild and wacky world of family travel. Today marks our eighteenth day in the land of stars and stripes, the good ol’ US of A. We’ve had quite the adventure, and now it’s time to bid farewell to cousin Julie in Greensboro, North Carolina, and make our way back home. But not without a few twists and turns, of course!

Bright and early, at the crack of dawn (well, 7:00 a.m. to be precise), we dragged ourselves out of bed. My back, still grumpy from all the sightseeing and shenanigans, decided to make its presence known. It seems to enjoy throwing a tantrum whenever I sit still for too long. But fear not, my friends! I’ve armed myself with the trusty weapon of choice for back pain: ibuprofen. So, like a brave soldier, I soldier on, albeit with a cheeky smile plastered across my face.

Leaving cousin Julie was bittersweet, as always. We all get along famously, and it’s such a joy to spend time with her. But alas, duty calls, and we had to bid our farewells. Off we went to conquer the modes of transportation that awaited us.

First up, we embarked on a thrilling journey in our trusty hire car, making a beeline for the Greensboro Airport. The petrol (or gas, as the locals call it) station played a vital role in this adventure. We dropped off the car and breezed through airport security in a mere 15 minutes. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! Greensboro, you never disappoint.

Next on the agenda was a flight from Greensboro to La Guardia in New York. The skies were friendly, and we touched down without a hitch. But the adventure didn’t end there, my friends. Oh no, it was just getting started!

After landing, we hopped onto a shuttle bus as part of our transfer from La Guardia to JFK. The bus ride was full of thrills and excitement. Well, maybe not really, but let’s pretend for the sake of drama, shall we?

Once we arrived at JFK, we thought we were in the clear. But life had other plans. We found ourselves riding the New York subway on the infamous E line. I must say, it’s quite the experience dodging commuters, tourists, and the occasional mariachi band. New York, you never cease to amaze us!

Finally, we made it to our ultimate destination within JFK—the Airtrain. This magical contraption whisked us away towards our departure gate, and we marveled at the wonders of modern transportation.

As I sit here, comfortably nestled in the airport lounge, I reflect on our journey thus far. We encountered a mere 20-minute queue at airport security. Not too shabby, I suppose. We still have an hour to kill before we begin the boarding process, which gives me ample time to regale you with tales of our escapades.

But fear not, dear readers, for this is not the end! No, no, the saga will continue. The next post shall be from the comfort of our own humble abode, where we’ll undoubtedly reminisce about the highs and lows of this grand adventure.

So, until then, keep your spirits high, your sense of humor intact, and your back pain at bay. Stay tuned for the next thrilling installment of our family travel extravaganza!
