NYC, Washington DC Nashville and Greensboro – Day Thirteen

Hey there, fellow adventurers! It’s me again, your trusty travel chronicler, bringing you the latest scoop from our whacky US holiday. Hold on tight, ’cause day thirteen was a wild ride from start to finish!

Our day began with a swift exit from the fabulous Virgin Hotel in Nashville. We bid farewell to our cozy rooms and embarked on a short jaunt to the Budget rental car collection point. Now, here’s where things took an unexpected turn. You see, we had initially booked a humble little budget car, but lo and behold, they tempted us with a 3.5 litre Dodge Charger for a mere $15 extra per day. How could we resist? So, we thought, “Why the hell not?” Little did we know that this bad boy would make quite the entrance. Vroom-vroom! Boy, did she purr loud!

After all the paperwork was sorted and our trusty Android Auto was connected, we fired up the route planner, ready to hit the road. Our destination? Greensboro, North Carolina, a mere 466 miles away. With the majority of our journey set to unfold on the ever-exciting Interstate 40 East, our estimated time of arrival stood at just over 7 hours. Buckle up, folks, it’s gonna be a bumpy but amusing ride!

About 150 miles into our odyssey, we decided to take a much-needed food break. Twenty minutes of glorious snack consumption later, we resumed our quest, bellies full and spirits high. Onward we went, determined to conquer the miles that lay before us.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, we reached our destination: cousin Julie’s humble abode in Greensboro. We were greeted by her warm embrace and the knowledge that, in addition to our epic road trip, we had also traversed a time zone. Yes, my friends, the clocks had leaped forward by a whole hour. Time flies when you’re having fun, huh?

Now, picture this: there we were, basking in the twilight glow, seated in Julie’s back garden, listening to the magnificent symphony of critters. Frogs croaked their hearts out, turtles paddled around, and cicadas joined in with their boisterous choruses. Nature’s concert was in full swing, and we were its enchanted audience.

We’ll be hanging out with Julie for the next four days, soaking up all the gossip and latest updates from her world. Fear not, dear readers, for I promise to keep you in the loop. But for now, I must admit that I am thoroughly knackered and in desperate need of some sleep. These adventures can be quite exhausting, you know!

So, until we meet again, stay cheeky, stay curious, and keep those travel dreams alive. Catch you on the flip side, my intrepid companions!

Yawningly yours,
Michele and Gary
