A Delightful Weekend to Remember
Friday Night Shenanigans
Wow, what a fabulous weekend we’ve just enjoyed! Yes, that’s a massive WOW for the splendid time we had. It all started on Friday night when I found myself on a late-night mission to pick up Lewis from his school leavers’ ball at The Kilhey Court. At the stroke of 1 AM, out he came, absolutely buzzing with excitement. I must say, all the lads and lasses looked remarkably mature in their dapper suits and elegant gowns. Quite the sight to behold!
Lazy Saturday Morning
Saturday morning was gloriously lazy. We took our time easing into the day before setting off for Altrincham to attend the annual festival. Although we missed the parade, we did manage a leisurely stroll around the festival field. The place was packed, thanks to the sunny weather, but I have to admit, it didn’t quite live up to the nostalgic memories I have from my childhood.
A Visit to Mum and Dad
We parked up at Mum and Dad’s place before heading over to the festival field. After a bit of a wander, we returned for a chat, hoping we had successfully avoided the Wimbledon Ladies Final. No such luck, as rain had stopped play, leaving us with some unplanned downtime.
Lewis’s Exciting News
Lewis received a phone call from the Head Chef where he’s landed an apprenticeship. They discussed his rota for the coming week, and once again, Lewis was on cloud nine, eagerly anticipating both the work and the opportunity to earn some money.
Birthday Visit to Sam and Matt
Later on Saturday afternoon, we popped over to see Sam and Matt since Matt’s birthday is this week. Sam looks positively glowing, despite being bigger than ever with only about eight weeks to go until the baby’s due. She looks incredibly healthy, which is wonderful to see. Matt, ever the busy bee, was in the middle of cleaning up and fixing his van. Drew and Fran joined us later in the afternoon, making it a proper little gathering.
Fran’s Delicious Treat
Fran, bless her heart, brought along some homemade jammy dodgers for me. Oh, Fran, they were absolutely divine! Nom nom nom, indeed!
Saturday Night and Le Tour
Saturday night was a relaxed affair, spent in front of the telly. Once everyone else had gone to bed, I caught up with the latest from Le Tour. It was thrilling to see Bradley Wiggins donning the maillot jaune (yellow jersey). Here’s to two more weeks of intense racing and fingers crossed he can keep hold of it until the grand finish in Paris at the end of July.
Sunday: Shoe Shopping and Garden Chores
Sunday followed a similar pattern to Saturday. I was the first one up and spent a good chunk of the morning hunting for safety shoes for Lewis’s work. Not an easy task on a Sunday, but after a trek to Wigan and then Bolton, we finally found a pair that fit the bill.
Trampoline Takedown
Later in the afternoon, I tackled the garden, specifically taking down the trampoline and packing it away, ready to sell on eBay. It’s always a bit of a chore, but it feels good to get it sorted.
Wimbledon Final
The weekend wrapped up with me watching Andy Murray go up against Roger Federer in the Men’s Wimbledon Final. Alas, despite a valiant effort, Murray was defeated by Federer. What a match it was, though!
