From Jenga Packing to Clarkson’s Farm: The Ultimate Road Trip Saga

A Day in the Life: The Great British Adventure

Ah, mornings – those elusive moments where we attempt to wrestle with the snooze button and emerge victorious. This morning was no different, as the sun peeked through the blinds, rudely awakening us at just after 08:00. Bleary-eyed and slightly disoriented, we stumbled our way to the breakfast table, ready to fuel up for the day ahead.

The Great Escape…Almost

As the clock ticked on, we realised that time waits for no one, especially not for us. Despite our best intentions, we found ourselves leaving a fashionably late 10 minutes behind schedule. But hey, what’s life without a little spontaneity, right?

Pitstop Paradise: Tesco Atherton

With the car revved up and spirits high, we made our first stop of the day at Tesco Atherton to fill up on fuel and snacks for the road ahead. Because let’s face it, no road trip is complete without a stash of snacks to keep those hunger pangs at bay.

Time Travellers: Arriving in Style…Sort of

As we hit the road again, our GPS assured us that we were on track for a timely arrival at Warren and Dawn’s. However, fate had other plans, and we found ourselves pulling into their driveway a fashionable 25 minutes later than anticipated. But hey, who’s counting when you’re having a blast?

The Jenga Chronicles: Packing Woes

In true British fashion, we embarked on a game of Jenga with the packing of our suitcases in the car. With bags precariously balanced and tempers slightly frayed, we realised we were all guilty of overpacking – but isn’t that half the fun of a road trip?

Onwards and Southwards: The M40 Pitstop

With our bellies rumbling and our sights set on Southampton, we made a pitstop at the Southbound services on the M40 for a spot of lunch. Because let’s face it, no road trip is complete without a hearty meal to keep us going.

The Clarkson Connection: Diddly Squat Farm

With our hunger satisfied and our spirits rejuvenated, we set off for the pièce de résistance of our journey – Jeremy Clarkson’s farm at Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton. Because what’s a road trip without a celebrity sighting or two?

We played a game of chicken with a cock in the middle of the country lanes only for me to apply three brakes and the feathered warrior sneaking off into the hedgerow!

Question of the day came from Warren “what does the word wharf mean?” The answer apparently ‘Water Harbor At Road Front’. Please can someone Google this for me?

Home Away From Home: Newbury Hotel

As the sun began to set on our adventure, we finally arrived at our hotel in Newbury, ready to unwind with a cold beer and a hearty evening meal. Because after a day of driving and exploring, there’s nothing quite like kicking back and relaxing in the comfort of a cozy hotel room.

Final Leg: Southampton Bound

And so, as the clock struck 21:30, we found ourselves in our hotel room, chilling out before our final UK leg to Southampton for our cruise to Norway. Because after a day filled with twists, turns, and unexpected detours, there’s nothing quite like the promise of a new adventure on the horizon.
