Fond memories brought to life through a sad loss

Today I’ve caught up with some good old people from the past albeit that it was through attending the funeral of one of the founding partners of Povall Worthington.

Peter Worthington passed away last week after an illness and today was his funeral at Bromborough on the Wirral.

Phil Beswick and I attended and were greeted with a whole host of old partners and ex-colleagues from Povall Worthington, there was Stuart Povall (Peter’s founding partner), Ian Wilson (his wife Denise), Mike Elliott (his wife Sylvia), Maurice Mills (his wife too), Peter Mclachlan, Derek Cox, Kevin Shone, George Birchall and Ray Harvey to name just a few.

The service was a genuinely nice service and I’m sure that Peter would have been amused at the amount of fuss going on for him.

Stuart Povall read the Eulogy and as expected Stuart did not disappoint, he is a very accomplished public speaker.

Phil and I had a long catch up with Ian and Denise Wilson after the service but as we were both due back in Manchester for work didn’t get chance to catch up with the others at the wake.

One day I’ll get around to organising that Povall Worthington reunion.
