Ca’ Savio was our first family experience of Italy. We only took the 2 youngest children here for our two-week August holiday with Eurocamp. My parents joined us for the last week.

We were very lucky as the couriers on site didn’t charge my parents as we put them up in our caravan.
The Journey
Rather than driving to Ca’ Savio we elected to do a fly/drive. We flew from Liverpool to Treviso with Ryanair for £118 each return. Hiring a car (Vauxhall Astra Estate size) for £290 for two weeks and got a free upgrade to a VW Passat Estate. This was booked through HolidayAutos (they actually subbed it to SIXT though). The drive from the airport to the campsite was about an hour to do the 30 miles once I’d got myself into the driving in Mainland Europe frame of mind again.
The campsite
We had a 2-bedroom caravan with the boys using the bunk beds. When my parents joined us, we used the pull-out bed in the dining area to put them up. Similar to how we first camped with the children in Brittany.
The campsite at Ca’ Savio was the largest we have been on with approx. 1500 pitches (about 1000 caravans the rest were tents and touring caravans). We were one of only a handful of English families on site, the rest were Italian, German or Dutch, this however was not a bad point!
The campsite has direct access to the beach, which was very safe for our boys. We paid 1 Euro 80 cents for a litre bottle of wine (about £1.20). The only downside was we weren’t allowed to BBQ on this site as there was some local rule!
The Weather
The weather was excellent, it only rained and thundered at night. The evening thunderstorms were a great spectacle to watch from the safety of the caravan.
Day Trips
Venice City was 40 minutes away by boat. We went there twice during our stay; the boys didn’t moan once about walking around and we were there for 7-8 hours each day! We also went to Lido de Jesolo which unfortunately was not that good as we seemed to pick a day when the town was closed! Mum did tell us though that her parents had once visited Lido de Jesolo which we think was in the 1970’s.
