Covid Holidays Day Two – Blow the cobwebs away

Let’s blow the cobwebs away today!

Morning

The weather was reasonable this morning and a check of the forecast only showed 20% chance of rain. So, we decided to head off to Blackpool for the day. It’s only a 50-minute drive from home so we let the rush-hour die down first.

We parked up at the south of Blackpool about half a mile away from the Pleasure Beach on a council run carpark. There was for about a 1000+ cars but only a handful were using it today. £6 for 6 hours parking.

We walked down to the promenade and joined the front just by the Sandcastle swimming pool and started the walk up towards the famous Blackpool Tower. We split the walk between the concrete promenade and the beach as the sea was out. The weather was refreshing but when the sun did come out it was warm on our backs. We walked past & under all three of the piers with hardly a soul on the beach. Before we knew it, we’d walked about 3.5 miles and no grumbling from Michele.

Afternoon

Michele had left her fleece at home in error but as it was getting windy the temperature was dropping so we had to find a shop for her to buy one. Any excuse Michele.

Now time for lunch. I fancied fish and chips, but Michele didn’t so we headed off to Nandos. If we wanted to eat there it was a 25-30-minute wait while they sorted the tables out for a clean. Nope not that desperate to eat there. So, we headed off to Pizza Express where we were quickly seated and served.

Post lunch we headed off back to the promenade to make the walk back towards the car. The wind was up and was enough to blow the cobwebs away.

I did suggest that we walked through the pleasure beach to see how it had changed since we had last visited. But guess what you must now pay to enter the grounds. Not that interested we walked back to the car.

We drove back via the main road at the front towards Lytham St Annes before heading off home.

Overall, a good day out.
