Bon Voyage to Stavanger: A Culinary Cruise on the Sky Princess

Cruising from Skjolden to Stavanger: A Cheeky Adventure

Ahoy there, fellow travellers! Join me on a whimsical journey as we set sail from the picturesque port of Skjolden to the bustling city of Stavanger. Buckle up your seatbelts, or should I say, tighten your boat shoes, because we’re in for a ride filled with Scottish encounters, wardrobe malfunctions, and gourmet delights!

Breakfast Banter with the Scots

As the sun peeked over the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, we embarked on our maritime escapade. But before we could even say “Ahoy!”, we found ourselves sharing a breakfast table with a charming Scottish couple.

Harbour Hangouts and Fashion Faux Pas

After our hearty meal, we ventured ashore and stumbled upon Warren and Dawn, two delightful souls we befriended on the harbour (or is that deja vu from everyday on our cruise!). We found ourselves meandering through the charming streets of Stavanger. While the day lacked the dramatic backdrop of hills and waterfalls, it more than compensated with the vibrant energy of the city.

Stavanger Shenanigans

Little did we know, our day would take a turn towards the unexpected when Michele, my dear shopaholic wife, experienced a minor mishap involving a sticky substance and her brand-new skirt from H&M. Fear not, for chivalry is not dead! Warren, the ever-gallant gentleman, gallantly offered to accompany her back to the shop for a replacement.

Norwegian Traditions and Quirks

Our day took a quirky turn when we stumbled upon a sea of Norwegians donning white tops and either red or blue trousers adorned with the year on their calves. Bewildered, we soon learned that this peculiar fashion statement was a Norwegian tradition celebrating the end of their 13-year schooling journey (Norwegian rite of passage known as russefeiring).

Dining Delights on Deck

As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow upon the horizon, we retreated to the luxurious confines of the Sky Princess. Decked out in our finest attire, we indulged in a culinary extravaganza at the Italian restaurant. Five sumptuous courses, each more delectable than the last, followed by dessert, coffee, and brandy, ensured that our taste buds were in a state of euphoria.

Farewell to Stavanger

With our bellies full and our spirits high, we bid adieu to the enchanting city of Stavanger. As the ship glided away from the port, we watched the twinkling lights fade into the distance, already reminiscing about the unforgettable moments we had shared. Our waiter Ronald and head waiter Franco kept us entertained and made the evening a special experience. If you’re reading this Princess Cruises these guys need a reward!

Conclusion: A Seafaring Sojourn to Remember

And so concludes our cheeky adventure from Skjolden to Stavanger. From chance encounters with Scottish neighbours to impromptu fashion dilemmas and gastronomic delights, every moment was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a dash of unexpected excitement. Until our next voyage, fair winds and following seas!
