The Final Leg from Stavanger to Southampton
Ahoy there, fellow adventurers! Gather round and let me regale you with tales of our final leg of the Norwegian Fjord cruise from Stavanger to Southampton aboard the majestic vessel known as the Sky Princess. Prepare yourselves for a rollicking ride filled with laughter, mishaps, and unforgettable moments.
Setting Sail from Stavanger
Picture the scene: a crisp Friday evening in Stavanger, the air tinged with anticipation as we bid farewell to the Norwegian shores and set our course for Southampton, due to arrive on Sunday morning. With several alarms set to avoid any muddles (lesson learned from our departure), the captain had wisely synchronised the ship’s time with Central Europe Time to keep us all in harmony.
Breakfast Banter and Cabin Capers
As the sun peeked over the horizon on Sunday morning, we found ourselves showered and sprightly, ready to conquer the day. By 07:50, we were seated in the Cielo restaurant, indulging in a sumptuous table service breakfast. Ah, but what’s this? The Bray’s beat us to it, courtesy of a slight misunderstanding orchestrated by Michele. Fear not, for a mere ten minutes setback couldn’t dampen our spirits.
By 09:00, it was time to bid adieu to our cosy cabin, though eager beavers that we are, we were already en route to disembark by 08:45. But not before extending heartfelt thanks to Alan, our ever-gracious cabin steward, for his impeccable service throughout our voyage.
Smooth Sailing to Southampton
Disembarkation was smoother than a freshly buttered scone, with our bags swiftly collected and stowed away, ready for our homeward journey. Within a mere 30 minutes, we found ourselves on solid ground, bidding farewell to our seafaring home for the past 8 days, before setting off on the road northwards.
Homecoming and Feline Welcomes
A brief pit stop for coffee mid-point of the drive home provided the perfect opportunity to refresh the senses. Finally arriving in Kearsley, we bid farewell to our dear friends (family) Warren and Dawn, before embarking on the final leg of our journey home. Arriving back at our abode, we were greeted not by restless children but by our loyal feline friends, Rafiki, Lexi, Issy, and Charley, purring their welcomes in unison.
A Nap, TV, and a Reunion
With the day’s adventures behind us, a well-deserved nap ensued, while Michele caught up on her favourite television shows. As dusk descended, we were joined by the prodigal son himself, Joshua, freshly returned from his exploits in Melbourne, Australia. Oh, how we’ve missed his presence these past fifteen months!
Farewell, Sky Princess!
And so, dear readers, our tale draws to a close. Our time aboard the Sky Princess has been nothing short of magical, filled with delectable cuisine, breathtaking vistas, and laughter that echoed across the seas. Until our next adventure, may your travels be as joyous and your hearts as full as ours.
