Ah, greetings fellow adventurers! Join us on the fourteenth day of our escapade through the enchanting lands of California and Hawaii 2022. Today’s agenda? A quest for waterfalls and unexpected encounters await!
Chasing Waterfalls
With the spirit of wanderlust guiding our wheels, we embarked on a journey inland in search of majestic waterfalls, rumoured to be hiding just a stone’s throw away from our humble abode. First on our list: the illustrious Opaekaa Falls. A smooth drive led us to a breathtaking vista point, offering a tantalising glimpse of the cascading waters. Alas, access to the base eluded us, but fear not, for the view from the top was nothing short of spellbinding. Across the road, a serene vista of the Wailua River awaited our eager eyes.
Discovering Nature’s Artistry
As we traversed further, fate led us to the Keahua Aboretum, where a brand new bridge beckoned us forth. Little did we know, this verdant sanctuary was the dwelling place of the fabled ‘Rainbow eucalyptus trees‘, adorned with hues as vibrant as a painter’s palette. Ah, the wonders of nature, concealed in the heart of Hawaii! A serendipitous find indeed, thanks to Michele’s clandestine knowledge gleaned from her clandestine Hawaiian blog perusal.
En route back to civilisation, we stumbled upon the Rudraksha Forest and Hanuman, a sacred enclave boasting trees with roots that whispered tales of ancient wisdom. Oh, the mysteries that lurk beneath the verdant canopy!
Encounters of the Clueless Kind
Returning to the main road, we found ourselves navigating through a maze of tropical bungalows, a testament to Kauai’s unique charm. However, our progress was impeded by the curious phenomenon of oversized vehicles and their hapless masters. Ah, the trials and tribulations of parking in paradise! A comedy of errors ensued as we found ourselves thwarted by a succession of befuddled drivers, each vying for the coveted parking spots. Nevertheless, our perseverance prevailed, and a less crowded berth was secured.
Ah, sustenance beckoned, and ‘Chicken in a Barrel‘ answered our call with delectable BBQ delights. Yet, our repast was marred by an encounter with zealous proponents of political persuasion, whose fervour rivalled the intensity of a tropical sun. A hasty retreat was in order, as we sought solace in the gentle embrace of the sandy shores.
Sunsets and Farewells
With the day waning, we bid adieu to our adventures and returned to our sanctuary by the sea. A tranquil evening awaited us, punctuated by the effervescent glow of a Hawaiian sunset. Libations were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were etched in the sands of time.
