A Friday Full of Fun, but No Blog Post
Why There Was No Blog Post Yesterday
Friday came and went without a peep from me on the blog—no, I haven’t forgotten about you lot! The truth is, I had a cracking day that kept me well away from my keyboard. Picture this: a full day at work, followed by a cheeky pint (or two), some scrumptious food, and a rather amusing attempt at six holes of indoor golf at The Green in Piccadilly, Manchester. Sadly, I must report that this gem of a place has now closed its doors for good. Quite the shame, really.
Now, here’s the funny bit—I’ve never been much of a golf enthusiast. The sport has always seemed a bit too slow for my liking. But, the second time around at The Green, I found myself rather enjoying it, despite my lack of interest in the game. There’s something about the mix of good company and the occasional pint that makes even the most mundane activities a bit of a laugh, wouldn’t you agree?
The Evening Escapade: Port Street Beer House
Once we’d finished with our golfing shenanigans, the night was still young, so off we trotted to Port Street Beer House. If you’re a fan of a good craft beer, you’ll know this place is something of a local legend. The selection they have is absolutely top-notch, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. We raised our glasses, chatted away, and before we knew it, the evening had slipped away. But what a delightful way to end a Friday night, don’t you think?
Lazy Saturday Morning: The Aftermath
This morning was what one might call a ‘lazy day’—and I make no apologies for it. Michele and I took our sweet time waking up, savouring the luxury of a slow Saturday morning. After all, Friday had been a busy one, and a bit of rest was well deserved.
But as the day unfolded, so did our plans. We’ve decided to venture out this afternoon and help clear a few pubs in Manchester’s Northern Quarter of their beer stock. It’s a noble mission, and one we’re undertaking with my brother and sister-in-law by our side. The eldest and Matt have graciously agreed to keep an eye on the two youngest, so we’ve got the freedom to indulge a bit.
Mother Mac’s and the Return to Port Street Beer House
We’ll be starting our little pub crawl at the charmingly old-school Mother Mac’s, tucked away on Back Piccadilly. If you’ve never been, it’s well worth a visit—proper pub vibes and no nonsense. Who knows where the day will take us, but there’s talk of returning to Port Street Beer House. Well, why not? It treated us so well last night, it’d be rude not to pay it another visit.
So, if today’s plans turn out to be anything like yesterday’s, you might just have to wait until tomorrow for the next blog post. But hey, a little anticipation never hurt anyone, right?
