Does Wearing a Tie Make Me Work Any Better?
The Tie Dilemma
The sun’s been blazing lately, and honestly, the thought of tying a noose around my neck each morning isn’t exactly appealing. With no clients to impress, my tie has happily stayed in my bag, enjoying its extended holiday. But alas, today, I was reminded that ties are indeed part of the dress code.
Imagine my surprise when I looked around and noticed I wasn’t the lone rebel. There were at least two of us tie-less chaps, while some of our female colleagues were sporting outfits that wouldn’t look out of place at the beach. It’s an interesting contrast, don’t you think?
The Big Question: Does a Tie Improve My Performance?
So, let’s get to the heart of the matter. Does donning a tie make me a better worker? Personally, I don’t buy it. A tie might make me look more professional, sure, but does it boost my productivity or the quality of my work? I highly doubt it.
If I’m cooped up in the office all day with no clients in sight, why should I be strangled by a piece of silk? It’s not like I don’t have one ready; it’s sitting in my bag, ready to leap into action if needed. But honestly, does anyone actually perform better just because they’re wearing a tie?
Rant Over
Alright, enough of my grumbling about ties. Let’s shift gears to something more cheerful. Today marks a significant milestone for my middle son. He’s officially finished his final exam and is ready to leave school. Quite the momentous occasion!
The Next Steps for My Son
He’s got a leavers’ assembly on Thursday morning, a quick task to upload his iMedia coursework on Friday, and then he’s off into the big, wide world. What an exciting yet daunting time for him. He’s got two paths ahead: waiting to hear if the RAF will accept him for a chef apprenticeship or heading to college in September.
Wishes for the Future
Whatever path he takes, I wish him all the best. It feels like just yesterday he was a little boy, and now he’s on the brink of adulthood. Time really flies, doesn’t it?
In conclusion, while I’ll continue to begrudgingly wear my tie when required, I remain unconvinced that it enhances my work in any meaningful way. Meanwhile, my son embarks on his own journey, tie or no tie, ready to face the future.
Wearing a tie doesn’t make you work better… But it’s like been at school and having a uniform policy… Doesn’t make you work any better 🙂 its just life!!!
Sam it’s being not been! That Swiss Girls Finishing School was wasted money I should have spent the money on Manchester United 🙂 x
