How We Accidentally Ate Each Other’s Pho in Nashville

Day Eleven: Nashville Adventures – A Cheeky Tale of Tunes, Treats, and Tall Tales

Day Three in Nashville – Are We Done Yet?

Well, hello there, you adventurous lot! Here we are, day eleven of our grand escapade across the United States. The stars and stripes are beginning to feel like a second skin, and we’re smack in the middle of Nashville—day three, no less. If you’d asked me this morning, I would have sworn we’d conquered every corner of this musical metropolis, but guess what? Nashville keeps throwing us curveballs, and we keep catching them like seasoned pros. Let’s dive into today’s escapades, shall we?

Hitting the Heart of Country Music

After all this time, you’d think we’d have had enough of the country music scene, but no, no, no! We rolled out of bed (with more effort than I’d care to admit) and decided to fully immerse ourselves in what Nashville does best. Enter: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

If you fancy yourself a country music aficionado—or just someone who enjoys a good toe-tapping tune—this place is pure gold. From the legendary exhibits on Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton to memorabilia that’ll make you feel like you’ve time-travelled to the heart of honky-tonk, it’s the place to be. We wandered the halls, listening to iconic songs that defined the genre, and I couldn’t help but feel a little more Southern by the time we left. I may have even developed a slight twang in my speech!

A Pho-nomenal Mix-up at Lunch

After all that country music goodness, it was time to refuel. And where better than Han’s Banh Mi & Pho at Assembly Food Hall? Now, I know what you’re thinking—pho in Nashville? But let me tell you, it was an absolute jackpot of flavour.

Michele, ever the chicken lover, ordered the Chicken Pho, while I, in my infinite wisdom, chose the Beef Pho. But because the universe has a sense of humour, we accidentally swapped bowls and started slurping each other’s meat. Yes, you heard me right! In the end, we both agreed it was a happy accident. Fate clearly wanted us to broaden our taste horizons. And let’s be honest, when you’re faced with a steaming bowl of pho, are you really going to complain?

And because no day in Nashville is complete without a sugar rush, we made our way to the cookie dough stall like moths to a flame. Now, I don’t want to oversell it, but I’m fairly certain I transcended to another plane of existence with each spoonful. It was gloriously sweet, indulgently rich, and entirely too much for any one person to handle. But did that stop us from devouring it like greedy kids? Absolutely not.

It reminded me of those childhood days when Mum would bake and we’d battle over who got to lick the batter bowl. Simpler times, right? Though this was decidedly less innocent and more “why did we think eating half a tub of cookie dough was a good idea?”

A Stroll Over the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge

Once we recovered from our sugar-induced comas, it was time to walk it off. And where better than the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge? If you haven’t done this walk, you’re missing out on one of the best views in Nashville.

As we strolled across, the city skyline unfolded before us like a scene from a movie. You could hear the faint buzz of traffic below, the laughter of tourists, and the hum of a city that never seems to take a break. It was one of those rare moments where everything just… fits. The music, the people, the view—absolute perfection.

Honky Tonk Central – The Only Way to End the Day

Now, before you think we called it quits after our walk, you must not know us very well. Of course, there was more in store. We made a pit stop at Honky Tonk Central because no trip to Nashville would be complete without a cold beer and some live music.

The atmosphere? Electric. The music? Toe-tappingly irresistible. We found ourselves smack in the middle of a crowd of locals and tourists alike, all swaying to the rhythm of yet another fantastic country band. With a pint in hand and boots stomping to the beat, we couldn’t help but feel like true Nashville natives for the night.

The End (For Now)

So, there you have it, another day in the books. But don’t worry, folks, the adventure is far from over. We’ve got one more day left in this charming city before we jump back in the rental car and set our sights on North Carolina. We’ll be visiting cousin Julie, who’s probably already got the kettle on and a plate of biscuits waiting. I’ll keep you posted on that, of course.

Until then, keep your sense of adventure alive, your spirits high, and your feet moving to the music. Nashville’s still got a few surprises in store for us, I’m sure of it!
