Mexico Day Six – Super Sunday, Indeed!
A Lazy Start to a Lively Day
Ah, day six in sunny Mexico! I kicked off the day in pure holiday fashion with a leisurely breakfast and a good read by the quiet pool. Nothing quite like the tranquil splash of water and the rustling pages of a book to ease into the day. After an hour of soaking in some much-needed downtime, it was time to swap the calm for a bit of excitement.
Super Sunday: Football and a New Mate
Next on the agenda was heading over to the on-site sports bar. I couldn’t possibly miss the last 30 minutes of the City v Arsenal clash, and of course, the highly anticipated Chelsea v United match. The bar was fairly empty, which suited me just fine—I prefer a bit of space when the action kicks off.
There I met a cracking chap named John, a Welshman from Cardiff. We hit it off straight away, sharing a couple of beers while we chatted about all the important things in life: football, family, and our holiday resort. John turned out to be great company, making the match even more enjoyable.
Chelsea were clearly the better side today. They clinched a 1-0 victory over United, who seemed more interested in defending than actually playing football. Lukaku was left stranded up front, with hardly any service coming his way. It’s no wonder Chelsea came out on top.
After the match and some more banter with John, we went our separate ways. I sauntered off to find Michele by the pool and then wandered over to the BBQ for a spot of lunch. A man’s got to eat, after all.
Sunkissed Afternoons and Cocktails Galore
The afternoon was a mirror image of the previous days—pure bliss. I settled into my favourite sunbed, and the fantastic bar and waitress teams kept me well-supplied with Piña Coladas and Mojitos. I could definitely get used to this lifestyle!
Michele managed to get hold of the boys (and Keenan) back home to check how their Bonfire Night celebrations were going. The verdict? A resounding “yes”—they were having a great time. It’s nice to know all is well on the home front while we’re here soaking up the sun.
A Chilling End to the Day
As the sun began to set, the mood took a sombre turn. We found ourselves glued to the TV, watching the horrific news unfold from Texas. A church mass shooting—absolutely devastating. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected. It’s a stark reminder of how fragile life can be, even when you’re thousands of miles away on holiday.
The Night’s Culinary Adventure (and a Sneaky Visitor)
Dinner plans involved the local Mexican restaurant, and I was definitely looking forward to indulging in some authentic flavours. Last night, we had an unexpected guest—a cheeky raccoon that decided to join us, climbing the stairs while we took the lift! Who knows what tonight will bring? Perhaps our furry friend will make another appearance. Either way, it’s bound to be a memorable end to our sixth day in paradise.
