In June 2007 we bought our forever home in Hindley Green, Wigan. A three-bedroom semi-detached bungalow on a quiet residential estate that was built in the early 1960’s with a South facing rear garden.
My wife Michele knew the layout of the bungalow so well as it was opposite to her parents’ home and where she lived for many years.
Michele met the estate agent with her parents for a viewing of the bungalow and later telephoned me to say she’d put an offer in to buy, slightly lower than the asking price. So, from that point in it was a waiting game.
Offer finally accepted (not for our first offer though) and existing house sold. We eventually moved in on a Friday with the help off friends and family.
Over the years we’ve undertaken an extensive modernisation of the property to get it to the condition it is currently in. See below links to each major phase of the project and finally at the bottom of this page is a gallery of what we started with. The condition of day one.
