Invisible Heroes and Flying Coins: The Drama of Derby Days

Derby Days Delight: A Winning Tale

Triumph on the Pitch, Turmoil in the Stands

Manchester United showcased their prowess in a thrilling Derby Day showdown against arch-rivals Manchester City. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the Red Devils managed to secure a 2-3 victory after a nail-biting second half. However, the real drama unfolded both on and off the pitch.

The Invisible Hero: Robin Van Persie

In the first half, an almost invisible Robin Van Persie stole the show with a deflected free kick that sailed past an outstretched Joe Hart. The 0-2 lead at half-time turned into a 2-2 deadlock, but Van Persie’s timely goal in the closing minutes sealed the deal for Manchester United.

Ugly Scenes and Coin Tossing

Celebrations took a bizarre turn as Rio Ferdinand appeared to celebrate by smashing himself in the face – only to discover it was a coin thrown by a disgruntled Manchester City fan. The coin drew blood above Ferdinand’s eye, adding an unexpected twist to the post-match theatrics. Kudos to Joe Hart, who restrained another unruly fan attempting to invade the pitch.

Home Comforts and Sunday Roasts

Back at home, the atmosphere was a stark contrast. Our house was filled with both reds and blues, as Mum and Dad joined us for a delightful Sunday roast. While Michele and Lewis took care of the culinary delights, I found myself stuck with the less glamorous task of doing the dishes. Oh, the sacrifices we make for family!

Michele, after a brief stint in the hospital during the week, looked remarkably well, adding to the joyous mood of the day.

Office Shenanigans and Musical Chairs

As the new week unfolds, the office undergoes a transformation. Our new owners Arcadis Manchester office is merging into ours, leading to a reshuffling of locations for all teams. The only constants seem to be IT, HR, and our ever-reliable receptionist. Personally, I lucked out with a coveted window seat – a welcome change after three long years. Thankfully, I had the foresight to plan the seating arrangement back then!

Christmas Cheers and Office Merriment

Friday night marked the first of two Christmas outings for the office. The team gathered at Akbar’s for a delectable meal, preceded and followed by pints at some of Manchester’s finest pubs. Despite reaching the point of no return with a full stomach, I had to switch to whiskey – thanks to Alex for the much-needed lift home.

The anticipation is building for the grand office do on Thursday night at one of Manchester’s prestigious hotels. Stay tuned for more tales of merriment and potential misadventures in the coming week.

A Grandson’s Battle and Family Resilience

Amidst the football fervor and office antics, a quick note about my grandson’s valiant fight against whooping cough. Slowly but surely, he’s moving towards recovery, and our hopes are high for a positive outcome. After all, we’re made of sturdy stuff – a testament to the resilience that runs in the family.
