Our May 2025 US Adventure Begins!

Welcome to our fabulous (and ever-so-slightly chaotic) May 2025 journey across the good ol’ US of A. If you love travel tales with a splash of sass, a sprinkle of suitcase envy, and more food and beach pics than you can shake a flip-flop at, then you’re in the right place.

From Wigan to the World (Well, Heathrow)

We kicked things off in classic northern style: waving goodbye to Wigan as we hopped aboard a train heading down south to the bustling metropolis that is Heathrow Airport. Armed with our ever-faithful Ted Baker Wheeled Trolley SANGRA Suitcases (yes, we are that couple), we rendezvoused with our globe-trotting partners-in-crime, Helen & Brian.

There were hugs, snacks, and maybe a cheeky G&T or two before boarding our flight across the pond to our very first stop…

Boston: Chowder, History & a Lot of Walking

Boston, Massachusetts — it was our first time here, and we did it properly. Four nights of cobblestone streets, harbour views, lobster rolls the size of our heads (but not at $35 each we wouldn’t be), and more American history than a Netflix documentary binge.

The city charmed us with its mix of colonial class and modern sass. But full disclosure: while we enjoyed Boston thoroughly, we think we’ve done it now. Next time, we’ll explore more of Massachusetts (Cape Cod, we’re looking at you).

From City Streets to Sandy Feet – Hello, Florida!

After soaking in the Bostonian vibes, we jetted off to sunnier shores — Tampa, Florida, to be precise. And oh, what greeted us? Only the biggest beast of a hire car you’ve ever seen: a GMC Yukon Denali. When we say it was massive, we mean we needed a stepladder to get in. Ridiculous. Glorious.

We based ourselves on the postcard-perfect Anna Maria Island for eight nights, with its sugar-white beaches and sunsets that looked like they were sponsored by Photoshop. Between shell-spotting and dolphin-watching, we still found time to hit up Clearwater, Tampa, and even made our way down to Venice FL — and no, sadly, there were no gondolas.

One Last Stop: Orlando

With slightly sandier sandals and slightly tighter waistbands, we rolled (literally) into Orlando for our final three nights. No Mickey ears this time, just a relaxed pace to round off a fantastic trip.

We had sun, sea, massive cars, historic charm, and more poolside margaritas than we care to admit. It was our first time in both Massachusetts and Florida — more states ticked off our list, and plenty of memories to boot.

Would We Go Back?

Florida? Absolutely. There’s loads more we fancy exploring (Everglades, Key West, Miami – we’re coming for you).
Boston? Been there, done that, bought the magnet. But Massachusetts still has some intrigue, so never say never!
