Harry’s Big Day: A Christening Adventure

A Day of Christening Delight

Harry’s Not-So-Happy Christening

Today was a day to remember, as we celebrated my grandson Harry’s Christening. Though the day was filled with joy and family, young Harry didn’t seem to share the sentiment. Our little chap cried throughout the entire service, making it quite the memorable event.

Even when seated at the front of the church, Harry’s tears didn’t cease. His godfather, Drew, had to whisk him away to the back in an attempt to soothe him. The effort was valiant but largely in vain, as Harry was determined to express his discontent.

A Beautiful Service

Despite the crying, the service itself was lovely. The Christening was beautifully nestled in the middle of the usual Timperley Methodist Church proceedings, giving it a special touch. Harry is lucky to have three wonderful godparents: Rachael, who is Matt’s sister; Drew, Sam’s brother; and Laura, a dear friend to both Sam and Matt. They all stood by, looking proud and a tad amused at the little one’s antics.

Post-Christening Celebrations

After the service, Sam and Matt had arranged a delightful buffet at the Timperley Conservative Club. It was a splendid opportunity to catch up with many familiar faces, some of whom I hadn’t seen in years. The air was filled with laughter and reminiscing, making it a heartwarming affair.

Sam showed immense courage and grace as she stood up to thank everyone for attending Harry’s Christening. Her words were heartfelt and added a special touch to the already lovely day.

A Big Week for Lewis

This week was quite significant for Lewis as well. He had his RAF assessment exam scheduled for Thursday. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. Within fifteen minutes, he was back with Michele, looking rather glum. It turned out that he had missed a second email requesting additional information, which led to the cancellation of his exam. Thankfully, it’s been rescheduled for two weeks’ time. Fingers crossed for better luck next time, Lewis!

The Football Drama

Saturday brought another wave of excitement with United taking on Norwich at Old Trafford. The first half was painfully dull, much to the dismay of the fans. But the game took a thrilling turn in the second half. Kagawa, who had a poor first half, surprised everyone with a hat-trick. And just when we thought the excitement was over, Rooney smashed in a fantastic drive, sealing the game at 4-0.

Looking Ahead

Now, we eagerly await Tuesday when United face Real Madrid. The atmosphere is expected to be electric, with the PA system being turned off five minutes before kick-off to let the fans’ chants fill the stadium, just like the good old days. You can almost hear the roar already!

Tired but Content

As I write this, the afternoon beer from the Christening is starting to take its toll, leaving me a bit tired. But the day’s events, filled with family, friends, and football, leave me content and looking forward to what next week brings.
