Luxury Spa night: Our Stay at Lion Quays Resort & Spa

Covid Holidays (2021) – Day Seven and Eight – A Holiday Treat from Close Friends

A Lavish Gift from Darren & Tracy

After a week of DIY projects at home, Darren and Tracy decided we deserved a bit of pampering. Their generous treat? A night’s stay at the splendid Lion Quays Luxury Spa & Hotel in Shropshire.

Arrival and Spa Time

We arrived in the early afternoon after a leisurely drive of just over an hour and fifteen minutes. Our room wasn’t ready for check-in yet, but that was no bother since we could already use the spa facilities, conveniently located a short stroll from the hotel rooms.

A Relaxing Start

There was just enough room in the spa’s schedule for us both to enjoy a soothing massage, but we had a short wait first. To kill time, we headed to the pool for a refreshing swim.

Indulgence in the Spa

My massage was booked a bit earlier than Michele’s, so I left her to enjoy the pool while I indulged in some much-needed relaxation. Post-massage, I returned to the pool area, making the most of the sauna, steam room, and another dip in the pool before Michele joined me, looking thoroughly relaxed.

Checking In and Dinner Time

After changing, we returned to the hotel to check in. We had a bit of downtime to relax and unwind before dinner, which was conveniently included in our booking. Although the restaurant was bustling, we had no trouble securing a table, thanks to our reservation. A couple of beers helped pass the time, although the bar service was a tad slow due to a wedding party keeping the staff on their toes.

A Comfortable Night’s Sleep

The room was incredibly comfortable, and I slept like a log. Michele probably did too, although she sometimes claims my snoring keeps her up!

A Leisurely Breakfast

We enjoyed a leisurely lie-in and a late breakfast, as we were in no rush to leave the comforts of the hotel.

A Countryside Stroll

Post-breakfast, we set off from the hotel and parked at a public car park near The Poachers pub in Chirk. Our aim was to explore the local sights, so we embarked on a walk along the canal towards the Chirk aqueduct and tunnel. We then meandered through the picturesque countryside, passing under the aqueduct before rejoining the canal path and heading back to the car. Naturally, we stopped at The Poachers pub for a well-deserved pint.

Retail Therapy at Cheshire Oaks

Next, we headed to Designer Outlets Cheshire Oaks for some retail therapy. Michele was in her element, and I must admit, I indulged in a bit of shopping myself!

Homeward Bound

Finally, it was time to head home, looking forward to reuniting with the boys and our beloved cats.
