A Cheeky Jaunt to Chicago 2014 – Day Ten
Out and About in Naperville
Today was a proper shopping spree at an out-of-town mall on the other side of Naperville, right off Route 88. It was one of those days where you brace yourself for some serious wallet damage, and boy, did we deliver!
Bargain Bonanza for the Boys
Michele and the boys were like kids in a candy store. Lewis was over the moon at the Levi’s shop. You wouldn’t believe it—he usually shells out £80 at home, but here, the same pair set him back a mere $40 (about £24)! Talk about a bargain.
Not to be outdone, Joshua had a grand time at the Ralph Lauren shop. He’s been squirrelling away his money for this very moment, and the twinkle in his eye as he swiped his card was priceless.
Elle’s Endurance Shopping
As for Elle, well, let’s just say she wasn’t quite as enthusiastic as the lads. She soldiered on with a smile, bless her, but I could tell she was longing for a different kind of adventure. A shopping escapade isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, after all.
Lunch and Logistics
After all that retail therapy, we had a smashing lunch. It was the perfect pit stop before heading back. Michele made a quick stop at UPS to send off a package of chocolate to California for Terri and Rick. Meanwhile, I had a moment to sit back and calculate the financial carnage of the day. Worth every penny, I reckon!
Evening Shenanigans
Back home at Julie’s house in Lisle, Lewis spent the evening chilling with Chris and his mates. They were probably up to all sorts of teenage mischief, but it kept them happy. Meanwhile, Josh, Elle, and I decided to take our volleyball game to the streets. The court was full, so we made do with what we had. Street volleyball, anyone? It was a riot!
Tomorrow’s Adventure Awaits
Tomorrow, Michele, Josh, Elle, and I are off to a charming little town called Galena. It’s about a two-hour drive, and I’ve heard it’s quite the picturesque spot. I’ll make sure to jot down all the highlights of our expedition for you to enjoy tomorrow night.
