04:50 alarm clock sounded to wake us up to start our journey home from Hawaii. Quick checkout from Trump International Hotel where the staff have been so friendly and the hotel so luxurious.
We jumped in our last Uber for the holidays. It’s amazing how the price can change so quickly. The cost when we woke was $21 but 30 mins later and it had jumped to $35! Just for a trip less than 25 mins to the airport. But again we had a great chatty Uber driver even at 05:25.
Arrived at Honolulu airport 2hrs before our flight and the security queue was only a 5 minute wait. Now the wait for boarding. Not before a quick bite to eat at Starbucks.
We took off 10 minutes late but the view over Diamond Head was fantastic. You could see the whole volcano crater. If we return we will climb Diamond Head. Just a pity we ran out of time on this trip.
It was only a 5hr flight across the Pacific to LA but you also have to add the 3hr time difference going forward in time which meant we touched down in LA at about 16:00. The flight wasn’t too bad with only a couple of kids on the flight.
From LA airport to the Hilton hotel it was only about 45 minutes from touchdown to check-in as we caught the hotel shuttle bus.
Checked in ok and went for something to eat and a couple of beers only to get a $65 bill!
Now sat in the room at 20:20 watching TV before our next flight tomorrow across the Atlantic with Virgin.
