Better Late Than Never: A Quick Recap of My Hectic Weekend
Missed my post on Sunday 🙁
Well, if you were eagerly waiting for my weekly dose of wit and wisdom on Sunday, I hate to break it to you – life happened, and I simply ran out of time over the weekend. But fear not, my charming readers, for here I am with a belated post. Better late than never, right?
Work Woes and CAD Monkeys
Last week was a whirlwind at work. The cries for additional CAD seats were as loud as a Monday morning alarm, thanks to the overutilization by our beloved CAD monkeys. Picture this: users desperately trying to reach the software, but alas, it was like a jungle out there – no seats available. We’ve begged, pleaded, and even summoned the CAD gods for more funds, but as of now, no approval has graced our humble request.
Juggling Chaos at Home
Life at home resembled a circus with the kids adding their own brand of chaos to the mix. Despite the pandemonium, we emerged from the week unscathed, and I’d like to believe we deserve a gold medal for that. Parenting, after all, should be an Olympic sport.
Soccer Shenanigans at Old Trafford
Saturday was a field day, quite literally, as I found myself at Old Trafford in the afternoon, witnessing the clash between United and Stoke. While United emerged victorious, let’s not forget Stoke’s valiant effort – they played like champs, and for a moment, it seemed they could have been two goals up within 20 minutes. A rollercoaster of emotions, but United powered through, finishing the game as 4-2 winners.
Taxi Tales: The Adventures of a Teenage Lad
Saturday night took an unexpected turn into the world of teenage romance. The middle lad decided to utilize us as his personal taxi service, shuttling him to and from a rendezvous with a young lady. Now, call me old-fashioned, but in my teenage years, I never subjected my parents to such shenanigans. Ah, the audacity of youth!
Birthday Gratitude and Hospital Visits
Sunday’s agenda included a whirlwind tour of South Manchester to drop off thank-you cards for my 50th birthday presents. A quick detour allowed for a cuddle with Harry and a cuppa at mum and dad’s before heading to Wythenshawe hospital. There, we paid a visit to my cousin, who had recently experienced the frightening experience of a cardiac arrest. She looked surprisingly well, considering the circumstances, but the frustration of not indulging in food or drink was palpable. Water for mouth rinsing just doesn’t quite cut it.
Bonding Over Bond Films
The weekend concluded with a cozy movie night with the youngest, featuring two classic Bond films – “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” and “Thunderball.” A slight hiccup occurred as I, in my unwavering trust of movie trailers, got duped into watching the former earlier than planned. But fear not, dear readers, for order was restored, and all Bond films are back in line. Speaking of which, the anticipation for a cinematic outing to watch the latest 007 masterpiece, “Skyfall,” is already building up.
The Never-ending CAD Saga
And here we are, back to the grind at work. The new week has kicked off much like the last one ended – grumblings about the CAD shortage persist, and the elusive approval to acquire more resources remains as mysterious as a secret agent’s identity.
In Conclusion
So there you have it, a whirlwind tour of my weekend escapades. Life’s a rollercoaster, and I’m just trying to enjoy the ride. Stay tuned for more adventures, musings, and perhaps a bit of cheeky charm next Sunday!
