Thanks to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, we’ve been gifted with Monday and Tuesday as Bank Holidays, transforming our mundane week into a delightful trifecta of leisure.

Quiet Office, Happy Soul

With many folks seizing the opportunity to extend their weekend, our office resembles a ghost town. It’s as if the building itself is whispering, “Shhh… everyone’s off enjoying life.”

However, Mother Nature seems to have missed the memo about boosting the mercury. Instead, she’s treated us to a symphony of raindrops, making us question whether we’re in April or August.

A Bit of Family Drama

In the midst of this soggy saga, today marked the arrival of Dad’s cousin and her hubby from the scenic shores of Helensburgh, near Glasgow. They embarked on their journey via the ever-so-thrilling Shudehill bus station in Manchester, all for the princely sum of £16 per person, return. Who needs a chauffeur when you’ve got public transport, eh?

Family Reunions and Birthday Wishes

These intrepid travellers are set to spend the weekend catching up with Mum and Dad, exchanging tales of yore and basking in familial warmth. Meanwhile, I dashed across town from Piccadilly just to steal a precious moment with them before they hopped on the tram to Mum and Dad’s abode.

Today also marked the celebration of my nephew’s birthday. While we had already bestowed upon him the gift of joy on Monday (courtesy of our diligent work schedules), we couldn’t let the day pass without a heartfelt Skype catch-up. Judging by his radiant smile, it seems he had a birthday fit for a prince.

As we bid adieu to the rain-soaked woes of the week, we cling to the hope that the heavens will part, and the sun will grace us with its golden presence just in time for the weekend.
