Basking in the Summer Glow: Adventures Under the Sun

Soaking Up the Sun: A Cheeky Summer Recap

Ah, Glorious Summer!

Well, well, well, what do we have here? It seems the summer has finally decided to grace us with its presence in the UK, and let me tell you, it’s absolutely smashing!

Where Have I Been?

Oh, you might have noticed my absence for the past fortnight. Blame it on the summer, my friends! The irresistible allure of the sun has kept me away from my trusty laptop, basking instead in its golden rays. Can you blame me?

Festival Fun and Family Frolics

Two weeks back, it was all about the Altrincham festival. Michelle, Josh, and I sauntered over to my folks’ place to catch the parade. Positioned strategically near the finish line, we watched as weary but spirited parade participants trudged past us, basking in the summer heat.

After a delightful lunch, it was off to my daughter’s abode. Flagging in the garden under the summer sun was an absolute hoot, even if my grandson, Harry, was feeling a bit “ratty” from the heat and teething.

Al Fresco Feasting and Wimbledon Wonders

Tea was a splendid affair, courtesy of Sam and Matt. Fajitas under the early evening warmth? Don’t mind if I do! Later, a mad dash to Stockport station to collect Drew and Chris ensued, fresh from Wimbledon, before we all returned home.

But spare a thought for poor Rob, my cycling enthusiast brother, who braved a 100-mile Time Trial in the scorching heat, only to succumb to exhaustion at sixty-five miles. Better luck next time, Rob!

Murray Magic and Summertime Shenanigans

Ah, Sunday, another glorious day! While Michelle luxuriated in the garden, I found myself glued to the telly, watching Murray trounce Djokovic in the Wimbledon final. A historic win indeed, even if Murray isn’t exactly my cup of tea.

Beer, Bites, and Manchester Merriment

This past weekend was a scorcher, and we decided to make the most of it. A rendezvous with my brother and his missus in Manchester was long overdue, so off we went for beers and bites in the summer sun.

Pub Crawling Manchester Style

The Deansgate, with its rooftop terrace, provided the perfect spot for a tipple or two. Then it was off to Castlefield, hoping for a table at Albert’s Shed or Dukes 92, only to find the entire city had the same idea. Barca it was, then, albeit with flimsy plastic glasses!

Feasting and Frolics Continue

Southern Eleven beckoned for dinner, offering delectable dishes at wallet-friendly prices. A stroll to the Rising Sun and The Old Grapes capped off the evening before bidding Manchester adieu.

Missed Connections and Sunny Days

Apologies to our friends who tried to catch up with us; perhaps next time, eh? Meanwhile, Michelle soaked up the sun at home, while I indulged in some gardening before settling in for the thrilling Tour de France stage.

A New Blogger in Town

Oh, before I forget, my daughter Sam has launched her own blog! Do give it a gander if you fancy.

Back to the Grind

And now, alas, it’s back to the daily grind, perched ten floors above Piccadilly in an air-conditioned office. Oh, the woes of post-summer bliss!
