North Carolina 2022 – Day Four
The Weather Gods are Playing Tricks
Ah, the weather gods had quite the laugh at our expense today! The mercury plummeted from a pleasant 70 degrees Fahreheit (21 degrees Celsius) to a chilly 46 degrees Fahreheit (8 degrees Celsius). And, as if to rub salt into the wound, it rained cats and dogs. How do I know this, you ask? Because I was up at the crack of dawn – 06:15, to be precise – joining Julie on a damp and dreary walk to take Hailee to nursery. Yes, it was still dark, and yes, it was absolutely pouring down. But off we trotted, Julie and I, embarking on the 2.6-mile round trip through the relentless rain. By the time we got back, we were soaked to the bone. Even now, as I write this, my trainers are still sodden and sulking in the garage.
A Quiet Morning at Home
Back at the house, it was blissfully quiet. Hailee was safely at nursery, and Elle was off at work. This left just the three of us – Julie, Michele, and me – along with our furry friend, Luna. Julie dashed off to work at 8:00, leaving Michele and me to indulge in a lazy breakfast. The rain showed no signs of letting up, so we decided to venture out to Costco, hoping to dodge the downpour.
A Costco Adventure
After an hour of driving and a bit of retail therapy, the rain mercifully began to let up. Feeling rather accomplished with our shopping haul, we decided to head back to Julie’s place. The drive back was uneventful, but at least we were no longer battling the elements.
Evening Relaxation
With all the day’s work and errands behind us, we settled in for a cosy evening. The three of us spent the evening chatting, catching up on life, and relaxing with a couple of beers. The weather decided to be a bit kinder as the night wore on, lifting our spirits and giving us hope for a better day tomorrow.
What’s Next?
The weather has shown signs of improvement tonight, so fingers crossed for a more pleasant day ahead. Here’s hoping the weather gods have had their fill of mischief!
