Employed by EC Harris since leaving school in 1979. Originally trained as an architectural technician and developed this role into the Group CAD Manager with the emerging development of CAD across the industry.

I have further developed his role across the Building Surveying and Project Management strands specialising in high volume low value “roll out” work, including the recent delivery of an on site project management role involving the re-merchandising of 1000+ pubs for the Spirit Group.

Key Project Experience:

Education – Survey and Project Work

Involved extensively with the design and management of the Stock Condition surveys undertaken on behalf ofandnbsp;Bury Metro using PowerSurvey and Microsoft Access.

Production of conceptual design and working drawings for local schools and Local Education Authority Further Education Colleges extensions and alterations.

Supervised Manchester University CAD Portfolio in connection with the PROMISE Database. Supervised the CAD and Survey teams on a pilot exercise to measure and produce full CAD plans to 3 properties on the Manchester Campus.

Survey Manager and Fire Risk Assessor for school network in Bolton on the Fire Audit / Assessments.

Fire Risk Assessor for various Diocese within the North West.

Licensing Trade – Survey and Project Work

Project Manager and Lead Consultant in the North West involved in a national commission refreshing 1000+ public Houses for the SPIRIT Group. Involved at audit stage through to finalandnbsp;account. Day-to-day dealings with Area managers, Unit managers, contractors and the final client direct.

Government and Local Government – Survey and Project Work

Experience of day-to-day building/project management of the Custom and Excise city centre buildings in Manchester.

Undertook the role of Survey Manager for Bolton MBCandnbsp;Condition and Fire Risk Assessment Surveys, provided the link between the survey team and the client on a daily basis. Undertook the collation, Quality Control and survey data import including the final handover of reports, photographs and floor plans back into the client. Total number of properties in the portfolio were 200+.

Involved with survey and redesign of Benefits Agency, Child Support Agency (CSA) Offices and File Store for LS Trillium.

Undertook the roll of survey manager for the Palace of Westminster Condition Survey Programme.

Fire Risk Assessor for Her Majesty’s Court Service (HMCS) for several properties including the Crown Courts in Birmingham.

Housing– Survey and Project Work

Involved in numerous schemes for various Housing Associations and Local Authorities including survey work, production of drawings, preparation, calculation and guidance using the Government approved SAP’s (Standard Assessment Procedure) for energy control, production and preparation of tender documentation, on-site supervision and general project management.

Significant experience revolved around the design of rehabilitation and refurbishment schemes in the social housing sector, particularly Housing Association.

Field surveyor for housing stock condition surveys for Bury Metro.

Carried out numerous house condition surveys including pre-acquisition surveys and right-to-buy surveys for Clients such as Northern Counties Housing Association and Manchester and District Housing Association.

Fire Risk Assessor for various properties (low level flats, deck access flats and high risk residential flats for Hammersmith and Fulham Homes.

Involved in the project management of various office fit outs for DWPandnbsp;and Job Centre Plus including production of space plans, contract administration duties etc. Contract Values of circa 1million.

Production of Fire Risk Assessments for the Driving Standards Agency and Bolton Metropolitan Council.

Retail – Survey and Project Work

Responsible for design and layout production for several “blue chip” high street retailers including Dixons/Currys, John Menzies, Littlewoods, Wolseley UK Limited.

Led and supervised design team involved in the re-branding exercise of ‘Going Places” to MyTravel, which involved over 600+ stores within a 5-month period.

A member of the design team involved in the damage assessment and refurbishment of the Manchester Arndale Centre and Royal Exchange Theatre following terrorist bombing of Manchester in 1996/97.

Banking – Survey and Project Work

Programme/Survey Manager for the Royal Bank of Scotland surveys, providing the link between the survey team and the client on a daily basis. Undertook the collation, Quality Control and survey data import through to the final handover of reports, photographs and floor plans back to the client. Total number of properties in the portfolio totalled 1300+.

Supervised a 12 strong team for National Australia Group (NAG) – DDA implementation works, the project covered 647 high street banks over a 5-month period. Involved extensively with branch refurbishment and production of the standard design blueprint.

Museums and Galleries – Survey and Project Work

Led the survey and CAD teams for the production ofandnbsp;existing plans, sections and elevations of the Liverpool Museum and Walker Art Gallery for NMGMandnbsp;over a 6-month period prior to a full refurbishment.

Health – Survey and Project Work

Involved in design and production of drawings for various schemes on behalf ofandnbsp;Tamesideandnbsp;and Glossop Health Authority, South Manchester Health Authority and Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust.

Carried out area and volumetric surveys for several Health Authorities including Tameside, Trafford, Oldham and Salford NHS Trusts.
