Sun, Rain, Repeat: The Rollercoaster Ride of a Mexican Beach Day

Life’s a Beach, Even in a Thunderstorm!

Mexico Chronicles: Day Twelve – Beachcombing Extravaganza

Rise and Shine, Stormy Edition

Ahoy, fellow adventurers! Day twelve in Mexico started with a bang, or should I say, a thunderous roar at 6:00 AM. The rain decided to throw a wild party, and let me tell you, it was raining cats and dogs! If I didn’t know any better, I’d say the rain was auditioning for a lead role in a blockbuster. But, amidst the storm, I found a silver lining—the perfect opportunity to pay homage to our war heroes. Back in the UK, it was 11:00 on the 11th of November (Armistice Day), and I couldn’t help but think of the brave souls who weathered storms of a different kind.

A Catnap and a Coffee: The Perfect Combo

As any wise traveler would do, I sneaked in a cheeky catnap and reappeared in the land of the living around 8:15. Who knew the rhythm of raindrops on a roof could be such a sweet lullaby? But let’s not digress; the day was calling!

Fueling up with breakfast at the main buffet, I plotted our day’s escapades. A stroke of luck led us to a cozy coffee shop, where we found shelter from the lingering rain and struck up a conversation with the delightful Becky from the US. A little rain couldn’t dampen the spirits when there’s good company and caffeine involved.

Shell-Seeking Shenanigans

The clouds decided to take a break, and so did we. Beachcombing was on the agenda, and let me tell you, it was a treasure hunt like no other. Shells of all shapes and sizes, washed-up coral galore, but alas, no sign of the elusive turtles. Fear not, dear readers, for the beach held its own wonders—an elegant white egret with striking yellow feet, a fashion-forward bird if I ever saw one! And, of course, a pitstop at the dolphins’ hangout was a must.

When Life Gives You Sun, Hit the Beach

Just as the sun decided to join our little fiesta, so did the rain, making a dramatic comeback. Picture this: Michele & I on the beach, sun-kissed for a mere 15 minutes, and then BAM! Thunder, lightning, and raindrops that could rival a tropical monsoon. What’s a stranded beach enthusiast to do? Embrace it, my friends! The beach bar became our haven, and mojitos our rainy day companions. Not too shabby, huh?

A Toast to the Evening

As the day unfolded its weather-related antics, one thing remained certain—dinner plans. Italian cuisine was on the menu, and I couldn’t be more excited. The rain, it seemed, had finally exhausted its supply of mischief.

And so, my fellow adventurers, I sign off with a clink of imaginary glasses, hoping for a rain-free evening filled with pasta, laughter, and maybe a sprinkle of stardust. Until tomorrow, when who knows what Mexico has in store for this intrepid explorer!
