Breezy Brunch and Barnyard Bonds: A Chicago Tale

A Whimsical Recap of Chicago 2018 – Day Seventeen

A Sunday Serenade in the Windy City

Ah, the sweet melody of a Sunday in Chicago, where the breeze whispers tales of relaxation and adventure. As the day unfolds, we find ourselves embracing the delightful blend of warmth and coolness, a perfect excuse to flaunt shorts with a hint of fleece chic.

Fixing Fiascos and Culinary Capers

Today marked the finale of my DIY escapades, crowned with the triumphant fixing of the air-con grille on the lower floor for Julie. The previous one, a behemoth of sorts, dared to defy adjustments, but fear not, for I, the mighty non-DIY’er, emerged victorious in this battle of wits and wrenches.

With our mission accomplished, Julie, Michele, and I embarked on a brunch odyssey to downtown Lisle – more of a village, really. Our destination? Dictated not by hunger but by Michele’s insatiable craving for yet another crepe.

Barnyard Bonds and Four-Legged Friends

The afternoon beckoned us to the rustic charm of the barn, where Elle and Shiloh awaited our company. Alas, both were off gallivanting on horseback, leaving us in the company of a most unexpected guardian – Buddy, the not-so-ferocious guard dog. His gentle demeanour melted our hearts, reassuring us that behind every bark lies a bundle of canine cuddles. Just as we prepared to bid adieu, Elle returned, and we found ourselves ensnared in a delightful conversation, stealing glances at Shiloh’s graceful gallops.

A Culinary Symphony and Evening Escapades

As dusk descended, we retreated to Julie’s abode, where a culinary crescendo awaited. Tilapia for the ladies, salmon for Chris and me – a feast fit for discerning palates. With our appetites sated, we settled in for a soirée of Julie’s beloved Sunday programmes – The Durrells of Corsica and Poldark. Though not quite our cup of tea, the allure of Julie’s joy made it an enchanting affair. While the girls indulged in a link tin, I savoured the last drops of beer, a harmonious end to a day of delights.

Victories on the Field and in the Heart

Ah, but the triumphs of the day did not end there, for both the Cubs and Bears emerged victorious, casting a jubilant spell over the hearts of Chicagoans far and wide. Truly, a testament to the jubilant spirit of Chicagoland.
