Rob 50th Birthday part 2

Rob’s Big 5-0 Bash: Manchester’s Nightlife Unleashed!

Rob’s Big 5-0 Bash in Manchester – A Night to Remember!

The Prelude: Cocktails, Mocktails, and Pre-Meal Shenanigans

Well, brace yourselves, folks! The weekend shenanigans didn’t stop with last week’s double-birthday extravaganza. Nope, not even close. Round two kicked off with a bang—my brother Rob’s second round of 50th-anniversary festivities. The venue? The vibrant streets of Manchester, and boy, did we dive into the heart of it.

My brother Rob and the ever-lovely Sister-in-Law Sarah decided to gather a motley crew of friends, including Michele and yours truly, for a night out in the buzzing city. The curtain raiser? A pre-meal drink fiesta at none other than Alchemist, Spinningfields. Picture this: swirling concoctions, laughter, and a bustling atmosphere. The only catch? If you’re looking for a quick pint, you might need to have the patience of a saint. The bartenders, busy crafting magical cocktails, are worth the wait. Michele, our designated driver, took on the mocktails with gusto, and at £4 a pop, who wouldn’t be impressed?

Taxi Rides and Heels: The Odyssey to Bouzouki by Night

After Alchemist, we embarked on a short but snazzy taxi ride across town to Bouzouki by Night. Why the taxi? Well, most of the girls were rocking heels, and no one wants a night out ruined by cobblestones and blisters. Little did we know, navigating Manchester’s roadworks felt like a Herculean task!

If you’ve never waltzed into Bouzouki by Night, imagine a cozy spot hosting about 160 lively souls. The highlight? A Greek Meze feast, a delightful parade of around 15 dishes served with flair. Drinks flowed, and at roughly £25/head for six adults, we were feeling the love. The entertainment? Picture waiters breaking into simple Greek dances, eventually dragging unsuspecting celebrants (cue my brother Rob) into the mix. Check out Rob’s dance on Facebook, if you dare! Post-Greek fest, a disco ensued on a dance floor that saw more attempts than successes, all to the tunes of floor-fillers. Michele and I called it a night at 01:00, while Rob and the gang boogied till the wee hours.

Sunday Blues with a Dash of Football Frenzy

Sunday dawned, and our bodies weren’t exactly sprightly. Blame it on the late-night revelry, but hey, we had memories to show for it. As we shook off the sleepiness, a date with the Manchester United vs. Liverpool FC derby awaited.

The match, a 17:30 kick-off, saw a sedate first half but compensated with a second-half spectacle. Manchester United dominated with goals from Blind, Herrera’s penalty, and a stellar debut goal from Anthony Martial, clinching a 3-1 victory. David DeGea’s heroics and Benteke’s acrobatics kept the crowd on its toes. The pundits showered praise on Daley Blind, but my vote goes to Schweinsteiger for his midfield prowess.

Transatlantic Tales: Chicago Chronicles

In the midst of all this, we even managed a transatlantic catch-up with my cousin Julie and her partner Joe in Chicago. The Windy City holds a special place in our hearts, with plans already brewing for our return in May 2016 to toast to their upcoming wedding. Ah, the adventures never cease! We first travelled out to Chicago in 2014 when we took Lewis and Josh on their first trip to the US.

So here’s to Rob’s Manchester fiesta, a whirlwind of cocktails, Greek delights, and football frenzy. Until the next escapade, cheers!
