Birthday celebration weekend

Well we got back from Tuscany in one piece after two fantastic weeks relaxing, visiting the sights and tanning ourselves. Even Michele came back with a tan which for her is fantastic. We did however come back to rain.

Then it was back to work which as always is difficult to get back into the swing of. I went back on the Tuesday while Michele sent back on the Wednesday. Not too many emails to with through though.

Thursday night was the summer BBQ for the Manchester office and with 100 of us turning up it was a great turn out, thanks to Katy B and the other social committee members for organising it at Dukes 92 in the Castlefield Basin, Manchester.

Then on Friday it was the start of a birthday weekend celebrations bonanza.

Firstly it was my brothers 50th birthday, he now shares his birthday with my grandson Harry who was three. Due to work and Harry being in bed we only called them on Skype and telephone to wish them happy birthday. We had however arranged to see them both on person for their birthdays on the Saturday.

We called in to see Harry first on Saturday morning and sat in the garden. Also visiting were Harry’s aunt, great aunt, second cousin and friend of the family. Looking at his presents it looked like he’d been spoilt rotten. We even got to see the be addition to the family Lola the kitten. I’m a fan of cats but Michele isn’t. Lola must have one of the loudest purrs I’ve heard, laid on my arms she seemed very content. Then as we left Drew appeared too.

A quick call in at my parents but not before calling at the pie shop on Timperley Village for some lunch. Mum and dad both seen fine. Mum now has her cast of her leg and send a lot happier. I sorted dad’s laptop out as it wasn’t using Google for searches.

Now off to my brothers for his birthday celebrations. Rob had invited all the family to help wish him happy 50th birthday starting from 16:00hrs. We arrived early so we could see a bit more of Drew as he was leaving to collect Sam his fiancée who was at work. Durning the afternoon and evening we caught up with family we’d seen and not seen over the last year, especially catching up with my cousin Steve who I’d not seen for a couple of years. Everyone started the birthday party in the garden before the wind caused it to be too chilly and then everyone migrated inside. Rob and Sarah out on a good spread of food and booze. Thanks you guys it was a great birthday. After dropping mum, dad and Aunty Jilla off at mum and dad’s we went into Manchester to collect Lewis from work.

Sunday has been a day of catching up with some work, Josh has cleared the weeds from the front garden ask so he could have his phone back as it had been taken off him fit his defiance and having an untidy bedroom.

Harry was having a part today for his friends, his voice was to have a snake, Spider and bug birthday party. Sam and Matt has arranged for all these creepy crawlies to be brought to their house for the kids to handle. Brave.

Now sat chilling in the sun room as the light fades, can’t you tell the nights are drawing in as it’s only 20:05!

Sad news breaking tonight that ex Manchester United player Ralph Milne has sadly passed away at the age of 54.

Day Fifteen – Tuscany 2015

Another early start to our stay in Tuscany, but this was our last day.

The alarm went off at 06:00 so we could hit the road for 07:00. Off we crept out of the caravan in an attempt not to wake anyone else around us. Then with the bags all packed in the car we were off out of Park Albatross & heading off to the autoroute and heading North towards Pisa Airport.

I’d already filled the car up the day before so all I had to do was top it up closer to the airport for the fuel we’d used getting there. Oh no another automated petrol station that doesn’t give change if paying by cash. No problems though as all we used was about 10 euros. The car was then ready to be dropped off at Hertz. It was the first time we’d used Hertz and I can definitely recommend them.

Inside the terminal there was just enough time to grab some breakfast and allow Michele to hit the duty free shop again – more perfume!

This time Ryanair managed to push-back on time and we were on our way back to Liverpool. Touching down in Liverpool the weather was the opposite to what we’d left in Pisa. We’d only been back in the UK for 15 minutes and we’d seen more rain than we had in the past two weeks in Tuscany.

Michele & Josh had both remembered where we had parked until we couldn’t find the car! Josh even took a photo of the line we’d parked on (9 – Red) but guess what his phone was dead! After a couple of minutes walking up the parking aisles Josh finally found the car.

Back home and the fun was just beginning as Michele couldn’t get into the house as Lewis had left his key on the inside of the front door & then fallen asleep. Further into the house & there was more trouble for Lewis as the kitchen could have been kept tidier. There was washing still damp in the washer, counter-tops not cleared or wiped down & a whole host of camping gear left in the spare bedroom. And all he did was spend the day in bed as he’s been at Creamfields as festival in Warrington.

But all in all we’d had a fantastic holiday in Tuscany with the Bray’s and would have no hesitation doing it again.

Day Fourteen -Tuscany 2015

It’s our Seventeenth Wedding Anniversary today and after yesterday’s long hot day walking the streets of Florence we elected to have a lazy day by the pool. I met Warren as usual at 08:55 so we could mark out our territory with the towels. Then back for breakfast with the girl of my dreams.

We had the usual sun loungers by the pool, Warren and Adam played water polo until one of their games got a little physical between a Polish bloke and an Italian lad, the ref stepped in and voided the game. It was more handbags by the pool than an international incident but it made me chuckle anyway.

More sunshine by the pool, then back to the caravan for lunch. Today we’ve been feasting on what was left in the fridge and larder so as not to waste too much food before we make a break from Italy back to the UK.

Back to the pool after lunch with a ham sandwich for Michele, forever the dutiful husband I am.

More sunshine and cooling off in the pool was scheduled for the afternoon session.

Then after our mid afternoon Ice cream we all (except for Michele walked to the beach), disappointed that there were no waves Josh and I headed back to the pool leaving the Bray’s to chill at the beach on their own.

We all came back together for our evening meal, Michele was suffering with what we think may have been sun stroke, while Adam and I both had dickey stomachs. This caused the last night together to be cut short.

I’ve just popped up to the Bray tent as Michele still had some of Dawn’s after sun which I left on their table as I presume they were all in the showers.

Now back to the caravan as we’ve a 06:00 alarm so we can leave at 07:00 for Pisa airport.Great holiday, great weather and even better company – thanks all I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my two weeks in Tuscany and will certainly be coming back to the region.
