Port Street Beer House & School leavers do

Last night was a catch up with the old boy’s at Port Street Beer House (http://www.portstreetbeerhouse.co.uk/) now probably my best pub in Manchester. This was all originally arranged as Dave H was back over from Hong Kong on a flying visit as well as having Stephen S up from London.

A good night was had but we kept it to just 2 brands of beer, 1 was called “Beast” from the Brightside Brewery in Bury. (http://www.brightsidebrewing.co.uk/page28.html) A malty beer for its strength, with a bitterness level to keep it balanced. Good body and subtle English hops, with just a light, fresh American hop finish and overall a really good session bitter.very nice pint, the 2nd beer we tried was Thornbridge Wye (http://www.thornbridgebrewery.co.uk/thornbridge-cask-beer.php) The commercial description of this beer is “A delicate Pale Ale lightly hopped with the unique and refreshing aroma of cucumber” and not only did it have the aroma of cucumber it certainly had the taste of it too. The flavour was odd at 1st but then became a chore to drink!

Then today was Lewis’s School Leavers Ball from The Deanery High School at Kilhey Court, Wigan (http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/our-hotels/macdonald-kilhey-court/).

We took him to his mates where 6 of them were being driven to Kilhey Court in a stretch limo. At £45/each it was not cheap but they had to arrive in style.

Guess who has to pick him up at 01:00 in the morning, oh yes me 🙂

But I bet he’s had a great night chasing the girls from school.

Maybe a lie-in is on the cards for tomorrow.

I hate IT, but love beer :)

I have spent the last 5 hours trying to recover my Aunt’s photographs from her laptop as they had been deleted from her laptop & then the recycle bin had been emptied!!!!

But guess who’s managed to retrieve about 2500 photo’s – Yep me 🙂

Now to get back to having a chilled night with Mrs C her best mate (Dix) & a couple of beers.

Yesterdays blog was missed due to me being out with the old boys. Phil B had arranged for us all to meet up between 18:00 & 18:30 but i was out of the door by 17:30 leading a charge for Port Street Beer House. Mike D was 2nd to arrive at about 18:00 then it was Hamlin followed by Andrew & Pete. Phil was last but not unexpected. We had a really good catch-up between us & I’m really pleased that we have all managed to keep in touch & still really get on with each other. The beer as usual in Port Street Beer House was a fine selection I was drinking  Continuum by http://www.hardknott.com/our-beers/ & take it from me it was a very nice pint indeed.

Caught the train home & Mrs C picked me up from the station. Sat & watch American Pie with a big glass of whiskey as Mrs C had never watched it before. Still chuckling today.

We had the boys up early today as we were off to see Drew & Fran’s new place until Drew told us not to call as Fran poorly & he’d catch us up at Nan’s. Sam (& bump) came too & we all had a pleasant hour or 2 all together. It’s not often that I get all 4 kids in the same place but enjoy it when they do 🙂

After fixing dad’s laptop we were on our toes home as Dix was coming to cut our hair then returning later for a night of chat, laughter & BGT.

We also had a flying visit from Helen who brought Matt up to catch up with Lewis.

Now sat with a selection of beers while Mrs C & Dix catch up with BGT on Sky+

night all

Britain’s Got Talent (BGT)

Just sat watching Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) with Mrs C, very disappointed indeed, but wait a minute Aquabatic are on! 4 girls performing a mixture of dance & synchronised swimming – suppose that is different skill but does the Queen really want to see the drivel I’ve been made to watch tonight? I don’t really think so.

This is the last heat tonight with the final on Saturday, can’t wait 🙁

Work today was a little stressful for the last hour as I had to find a resource & price for a building measure totalling several thousand square meters. Hopefully I’ll have a full answer tomorrow ready for the partners to submit the prices.

Out tomorrow night for a couple of beers with ‘The Old Boys’ starting out at Port Street Beer House, then moving to The Castle, then The Marble Arch sounds very similar to the afternoon & evening out with my brother, sister-in-law & Mrs C. see the following post (http://ukcadman.co.uk/2012/04/29/beer-chat/)
