I’ve been a lucky father today as for the first time in a couple of years I’ve had all four out my children with me this afternoon at my daughters for a BBQ on Father’s Day.
As well as celebrating with my four little darlings, I’ve had one son-in-law to be (just under six weeks to go to the wedding), one grandson, one daughter-in-law to be (just under twelve months until the wedding) all sat at the same table for tonight’s tea. The only one missing was my son’s girlfriend who is away at university in Bradford.
Matt had cooked up an absolute delightful Father’s Day BBQ with burgers, sausages, salmon & slow cooked pork on offer. My daughter and grandson will never go hungry being married to this man as he can certainly cook.
Father’s Day gifts this year included new tee shirts, a bottle of Jack Daniels, wine gums, money and a book about life growing up in my home village of Timperley in the 1930’s called Timperley Boy.
The next time we’ll be altogether will be in just under six weeks at Sam & Matt’s wedding.
But before celebrating Father’s Day with my gang we also had my dad and father-in-law to visit and celebrate Father’s Day with them.
March is a busy period for the Cleary family as we have celebrations coming out of our ears!
It starts with birthday celebrations for my Father-in-law then followed quickly by birthday celebrations for my youngest son Joshua, my cousin’s pair of twins Liam & Tom, cousin Julie, my Dad, my eldest son Drew and then finishing off with 2 of my other cousins Kay and Jackie. As well as the birthday celebrations listed we were invited to a surprise 50th birthday party on Friday to help celebrate our friend David reaching the ripe old age of 50.
David’s birthday celebrations were held at The Pavilion Bar and Bistro in Bury and a large gathering of their family and closest friends were invited for a ‘black tie dress code’ celebration. David was unaware of what was happening as Bev had created a fake invitation to another celebration at The Pavilion. For the sit down meal Michele had squid, followed by chicken and then the cheese board where I had pate followed by lamb and then a large slice of jaffa cake.
The conversation was great as we were able to catch up with some people we had not seen in a long time. As well as the obligatory dancing we were all entertained by a magician, a male solo singer and the great display of fireworks at the end of the meal.
Michele was the designated driver for the evening and we arrived home at about 01:15. Thanks Beverley for the invite and I’m sure David appreciated all of your efforts.
Continuing along the celebrations theme for the weekend it was Mothers Day today and we were up early and across the road at my mother-in-laws for a couple of hours before heading off over to Timperley to catch up with my mum. As well as celebrating Mothers Day with mum we were also catching up with my Dad and Drew for their birthday celebrations we missed earlier in the week.
Then it was back home to watch the celebrations unfold at Old Trafford as Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 to maintain their 3rd place in the Premier League.
Now settling down for the night in rediness for returning to work tomorrow.
