Mexico day nine – tequila day

After the exertions of yesterday and the sun getting the better of me we had 9 hours sleep, yes 9 (nine) hours. The body must have needed it.

Bran flakes only for breakfast, no eggs, bacon, omelete or pancakes like the rest of the holiday-makers!!

Then back off to our favorite spot for an hour of my book before a planned walk. But before the walk I was persuaded to attend a tequila tasting session. Michele didn’t fancy it so off I went on my own to the members presentation. Mexican tequila is not like that in the UK nor is it drink the same. No lime or salt, just taken with ice. There must have been 20 of us all in a semi circle. On my left another Russian born who now lives in the US but this time a lady as well as a Chinese born American lady and on my right a girl of my dreams! A Maria Sharapova double, six foot plus blonde who was stick thin from Southampton by name of Tazmin! Lucky me but sorry to say no photographic proof so you’ll have to take my word for it 🙂

Over the next hour we all had to taste 11 different flavours of tequila (orange, cranberry, mango, tamarind, coffee and chocolate etc.) But not without the silly theatrics. Lots of Spanish phrases and swaying of the hips. To help with the digestion there was Nacho and salsa freshly made to help soak the tequila up.

All four of us were in constant trouble with our host as we were busy discussing the tequila flavours. Yes favourite was the tamarind one!

By the end all 11 bottles were empty and all the salsa gone too.

Tazmin was explaining that she was on a weeks holiday at the hotel before joining the team as an employee. Brave move but I’m sure she’ll make a good go of it.

Later in the afternoon I joined the real lady of my dreams before we headed off to the Mexican for our evening meal. Again the food was OK but not as good as the Thai!
