Bella Italia, Lake Garda, Italian Lakes – 2008

Bella Italia, Lake Garda, Italian Lakes

After the last years trip to Ca’ Savio where we did a reconnaissance to this site, we finally returned for a two-week August holiday.

This time it was the two youngest boys and one of Lewis’s friends, Matt came with us.

We decided that we would again fly from Liverpool to Treviso with Ryanair, the car again was booked via Holidayautos. The drive to the campsite was all motorway and the 95 miles was easily undertaken in just over 90 minutes.

We had yet again booked a two-bed caravan with single bed and bunk beds for the boys, we had the double bedroom.

The campsite was fairly large with 1285 pitches on it but you didn’t get the impression you were packed in. The site had a very good range of pools to as well as having direct access to the shores of Lake Garda. Unfortunately, the shore was a stony one and a double whammy was not always easy to get a sun lounger at the poolside.

We had several days out which included a trip to the home of Ferrari Marranello (about 90 minutes’ drive away), Malcesine was about an hour away on the other side of the lake. Well worth the trip as you were able to get a cable car to the ski station to the top of Monte Baldo where you have fantastic views over Lake Garda. We also spent a day in Verona where we explored the back streets around the Roman Amphitheatre. We were able to visit Juliet’s balcony which was immortalised by the story of Romeo and Juliet.
