I have had 2 Season Tickets in the ‘J’ Stand (now known as the North/East Quadrant) since season 1990/91. I got the tickets after many years of attending Old Trafford as and when I could to watch football. I attended with my Uncle Harry for the 1990/91 season but now my children all take it in turns to attend home fixtures.
The best players that I have seen are George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Peter Schmeichel, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo.
My favourite games have been the following
- UEFA Champions Cup 26th May 1999 at the Nou Camp Stadium, Barcelona. I was one of 90,000 spectators to see United go a goal down within the 1st 5 minutes against Bayern Munich, only to witness a dramatic equaliser from Teddy Sheringham in the 90th minute and then the winner from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (AGAIN, as with the Liverpool game below) in the 92nd minute to confirm MANCHESTER UNITED AS CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE.
- European Cup Winners Cup 15th May 1991 when we beat Barcelona 2-1 at the Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam, with 2 class goals from Mark Hughes (Sparky). This was my wife’s one and only away game.
- First FA Premier League Title (last home game) 3rd May 1993 when we played and beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 with goals from Pallister, Ince and Giggs. Fantastic atmosphere due to not winning the Football League Division One/FA Premier League Title since 1967.
- FA Cup 4th Round home tie on Sunday 24th January 1999 when we overcame Liverpool by 2-1. We had been behind by 0-1 since Michael Owen scored for Liverpool in the 3rd minute, until Dwight Yorke made it 1-1 with 2 minutes left and then Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it 2-1 in the last-minute. Drew my son came with me to this game and at 9 years old must have been a great atmosphere for him as we were sat close to the Liverpool fans.
