Another fantastic sunny day in Lisle, worst of all we laid in and missed some of it!
I woke just as Manchester United’s first game of the season got to half time, debated with myself if it was worth getting up to watch and decided no, but kept up with the second half on the BBC website and twitter. Good job I didn’t get up as they were beaten at home on the opening day of the season for the first time since 1972! And they said it was Moyes who failed the team last season!
Today Mrs C, Josh and myself have been back into Chicago and over to Navy Pier to watch the Chicago Air and Water show.
On the way there we passed the best ever advertising hoarding I’ve ever seen, take a look at the picture below and see what you think.
Even on a Saturday morning there is a traffic jam getting into Chicago.
Navy Pier was absolutely packed to the rafters. We found some seating amongst the chaos and settled in and caught some rays off the sun.
We saw what looked like an F16 (maybe not!) Perform over Lake Michigan then it was followed into the skies by an older looking plane similar to a spitfire, but not sure what it was! They did a mockup dog fight which was interesting to watch. The F16 also did some vertical climbs and then dropped to earth like a stone before flying around again.
Following these two we were treated to the Blue Angels which I am led to believe are the American equivalent of the British Red Arrows. They flew across Lake Michigan in formation before splitting up and weaved between the Hancock Tower and the surrounding sky scrapers! At one point one of them flew unexpectedly over Navy Pier from behind us and made Mrs C and Josh jump as the noise erupted over the crowd.
This evening there was only Josh, Mrs C and I out for tea (dinner as the Americans call it) so we headed off towards Wheaton and went to a small little streak house. The portions we were given were the first meal here where we’ve not been over faced – everything was eaten ????
