CAD Chronicles: A Rollercoaster of Meetings and Misadventures!

CAD Chaos Unleashed: The Week That Broke CAD!

Well, folks, buckle up for a wild ride through the tangled web of CAD calamities that unfolded in the past week. It all started innocently enough with a series of meetings that would make even the most die-hard CAD enthusiast break into a cold sweat.

A CAD Conclave with ARCADIS-UK Teams

Picture this: a room filled with CAD aficionados, each armed with a passion for pixels and a love for lines. My week kicked off with a rendezvous with the ARCADIS-UK teams. We huddled, we brainstormed, and we charted a course to share our CAD prowess. The result? A symphony of skills waiting to be unleashed upon the digital canvas.

The Unlikely Alliance – Format Team Chronicles

Next on the agenda was a meeting with the enigmatic ‘Format Team’ from ECH – Milton Keynes/Birmingham. Admittedly, I braced myself for a tempest of internal politics, but lo and behold, it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Amidst the CAD jargon and occasional eye-rolls, we found common ground. The outcome? A plan to rewrite our CAD standards, a marriage of minds, and a sprinkle of unexpected camaraderie.

License Lamentations: CAD Catastrophe Strikes!

Just when I thought the CAD gods were smiling upon us, disaster struck like a thunderbolt. Picture me, working from the cozy confines of home, ready to conquer the digital realm with AutoCAD at my fingertips. Alas, fate had other plans. There, in stark black and white, no licenses were to be found. A frantic dance with IT, a flurry of calls, and emails fluttering like digital carrier pigeons—all revealed a chilling truth. Our Autodesk subscriptions had taken a hiatus, leaving us license-less and adrift in the vast sea of CAD uncertainty.

The culprit? A grand plan to incorporate into ARCADIS’s global CAD network. A noble endeavor, no doubt, but mistimed, leaving us CAD-less and desperate. As I write this post, our Autodesk Account Manager is our knight in shining armor, battling the bureaucratic dragons to reinstate our licenses. The irony? We are not working, and tomorrow’s workday looms like a dark cloud over our CAD utopia.

Weekend Woes and Flat-Pack Follies

After navigating the treacherous waters of CAD chaos, the weekend beckoned with promises of reprieve. Saturday saw Michele, Josh, and me donning our DIY capes, ready to conquer the formidable foe of flat-pack furniture for Sam & Matt. A commendable mission, marred only by a minor casualty—my left index finger, victim to Matt’s overzealous drilling during wardrobe assembly. Fear not, dear reader, for I shall survive this battle scar with dignity intact.

Sunday, initially planned as a lazy day, took an unexpected turn. A call from my brother shattered the tranquility, transforming the day into a lively reunion. Tea flowed, conversations meandered, and a bottle of red met its demise—all against the backdrop of cold, snowy weather that seemed inconsequential in the warmth of family bonds.

Royalty and Red Wine Revelry

In the midst of the chaos, a beacon of pride emerged. Lewis, off conquering the Boys Brigade Queens Badge, returned home a Queens Man—a title of honor shared by the men in our family. Kudos to Lewis, joining the ranks of Queens Men alongside Rob, Drew, and yours truly.
