Snoring Symphony and Dawn Serenades: My Unforgettable Birthday Bonanza Chronicles

Another Birthday Bash to Remember!

Birthday Blitz: A Weekend Extravaganza

Last weekend, yet another year gracefully slipped into the abyss of my past. But oh, what a way to send it off! We didn’t just celebrate my birthday; we threw a weekend-long fiesta that left Piccadilly Approach buzzing with stories!

Pub-Hopping Shenanigans

The festivities kicked off on a Friday lunchtime at a local pub near the office. Tradition dictates that it’s your turn to splurge at the bar on your birthday, so I gladly played the generous host. Our merry band ended up at the swanky Piccadilly Tap, a no-frills joint with poser tables, stools, and an impressive beer selection. Ten beers per blackboard, each with its unique style, flavor, and, of course, cost. Take my word for it—this place is a beer lover’s haven in the heart of Manchester.

Saturday Slowdown

Ah, Saturday, the official day of my birth! A lazy start, with Michele as my sole early-morning companion. The younger ones were still in dreamland, and not a peep from Drew. A text from my daughter, Sam, was a sweet morning melody. Later, my mother-in-law made a cameo with a card and some birthday cash. The day unfolded with visits from family, and even my son-in-law, Matt, caught up after his pilgrimage to Old Trafford. The evening, a cacophony of familial warmth, saw cards, money, and Fergie’s new book – Leading as gifts. A birthday bonanza, indeed!

Late-Night Capers and Early-Morning Surprises

As the clock struck 1:00 AM, the party wrapped up, but my night wasn’t done. Snoring, a casualty of an impending head cold, led to a 3:00 AM eviction. Lewis barged in at 5:00 AM, recounting tales of a perilous taxi ride. By 8:00 AM, my grandson Harry was up, and the house was alive with post-celebration chaos. A true birthday crescendo, complete with snoring symphonies and dawn serenades.

Sunday Serenity

After the whirlwind of Saturday, Sunday unfolded as a day of blissful calm. Even Drew, the elusive one, made a surprise appearance, bringing together all four of my delightful offspring under one roof.

Office Antics: Rebranding Chronicles

Preceding the revelry, the office witnessed a tumultuous week of rebranding from EC Harris to our parent company, ARCADIS. A four-year courtship culminated in a full-blown integration, not without its share of branding dramas. CAD documents played hard to get, resisting the sleek charm of their predecessors. As I type, discussions persist, and tweaks echo in the digital corridors.

Unexpected Twists: From Open Days to World Cup Blues

A supposedly quiet weekend with a solitary date at Wigan College’s open day turned into a lively affair. Josh’s verdict on the college oscillated from “meh” to “it looks OK.”

Saturday night, a rugby showdown—England versus Australia—a must-win clash that ended in heartbreak. The rugby shirts might be consolation prizes now, and, hey, you can snag them on Amazon!

Sunday, a football doubleheader: Everton and Liverpool drew 1-1 in the Merseyside derby, while Arsenal handed Manchester United a 3-0 drubbing. The fallout? Brendan Rodgers sacked, and it’s back to the drawing board for Louis Van Gaal.
